Séminaire 22.03.2019 - 11h

par Benjamin Rotenberg - 28 février

David Limmer (University of California, Berkeley), présentera un séminaire intitulé

Developing a molecular perspective on nanoscale transport

le vendredi 22 mars 2019 à 11h, salle 101, couloir 32-42, 1er étage (salle des conseils de l’UFR de chimie).

Résumé

Understanding how mass, energy or charge is transported on small scales is challenging, as standard hydrodynamic descriptions developed for macroscopic phenomena need not remain valid. On small scales, matter is discrete, thermal fluctuations render currents stochastic quantities, and nonlinear response is ubiquitous. In this talk, I will discuss some recent efforts to develop of molecular perspective on nanoscale transport, including elucidating the molecular motions that underlie nonlinear response functions, and new molecular simulation techniques to study such processes on a computer.
